Stephanie McMillan is a political cartoonist whose work has appeared in dozens of newspapers and magazines around the USA. A deeply impassioned activist, McMillan’s cartoons lampoon and attack George W. Bush and his various lapdogs and cronies. McMillan’s points are sharp and her zeal at attacking those who she finds dangerous are obvious.
The problem with reading a collection of political cartoons is that after just a few pages, they tend to get repetitous. How many times and how many different ways can Bush, Cheney and their supporters get attacked before it gets dull? It takes a really special cartoonist to pull off a collection like this one. Unfortunately, McMillan’s comics don’t work in a big collection like this. It’s too much of the same thing, over and over.
I like Stephanie McMillan’s strips individually, but taken together, it gets dull and pedantic.
