In the battle of comic brands, where do online slots fare?

Miscellaneous Comic Book Content

Any avid comic book reader will be the first to tell you that the most epic battle of the brands is ever still ongoing, and ever still a topic for heated discussions.

The two brands that have been battling it out for more than 79 years (and counting) are none other than the two stalwart comic book brands, namely DC Comics and Marvel Comics.

DC, also known as Detective Comics is the older brand, which was formed in 1934. Not long after, Marvel Comics was formed in 1939. The battle of the comic book brands started off with just that: comic books, and was quickly followed by movies and television series, onwards and forwards moving on into the video games realm, to be included in the igaming world, as well. Needless to say, the battle continues to rage on inevitably.

Taking a look at the rise and successes of each brand, we can gauge where this never-ending battle happens to stand at this present moment in time, but to know where we are, we need to know where we’ve come from.

The first huge success that DC experienced was in 1938 with the advent of Superman. In 1939, DC saw even more success with the release of their Batman comics.

Marvel broke out of DC’s shadow with their majorly successful offering, namely The Fantastic Four, in 1961. The next big leap into popularity came with the Spider-Man comics in 1962, followed by the 1963 offering of the ever popular comic series, namely The X-Men.

To date, Marvel has 39 movies under their brand, while DC clocks in at 29 movies. Clearly, when it comes to the battle of the number of comics-turned-movies, Marvel is in the lead in this instance.

Taking a look at the prevalence of each brand via Social Media platforms, one can quickly gauge who the brand winner is by referring to the Twitter followers, the Facebook likes and the YouTube subscribers across both brands.

Check out the table below for a quick glance at how these two brands fare in the Social Media realms:

Social Media platforms Detective Comics Marvel Comics
Twitter followers 2.71 million followers 6.21 million followers
Facebook likes 4,293,067 likes 30,093,936 likes
YouTube subscribers 1,485,939 subscribers 7,015,895 subscribers

*Stats true as of April 2018

Truly, it is plain to see that Marvel Universe, by all means, is the leading brand when it comes to engaging with fans via their various Social Media platforms.

When it comes to video games, the story may look a bit different.

The very first video game released by DC was in 1979 and was none other than the man of steel himself, Superman. The first video game released by Marvel was in 1982, a retro game about the spindly and endearing comic character, Spider-Man.

Moving onto the present-day and the increasing popularity of casino online slots gaming sites, it seems that DC is still tops and winning the battle of brands for once (well, since the Marvel brand began taking the lead in the 1970s and onwards).

Thanks to DC’s release of the online slots casino games that fall within the Batman: Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises series, DC got back in the game and began to take on the lead in the battle of the brands, in a big way.

These days, avid casino online slots game players can enjoy a wide variety of comic-themed games, DC and Marvel alike.

There are always, of course, those fence-sitters, who will always prefer to take a seat when battles ensue. The same can be said for online slots game players that would rather not get involved in this epic (almost 80-year long) battle of the brands, and steer clear from all mentions of the brands accordingly. In such instances, the best bet would be to take up a game or two from top casino sites that have on offer unique and super fun-to-play casino games instead. The first example of such a top-notch online casino site that comes to mind, that has on offer a variety of their own unique online slots game to players is the reputable online slots casino site, namely mFortune. A great casino site to check out as their game titles sure do steer far away from the various comic brands, offering a refreshing and unique take on online slots gaming all the way.

For those ardent casino online game players that prefer to get stuck in and enjoy a good battle along the way, it will be a welcome treat for them to find that these days there are more and more reputable casino online sites that are taking up these great online slots based on the various (popular) comic brands’ series, converting them into great online slot games that are available for all to play, at any given time indeed.

If this journey into the past, present and possible future of the leading comic brands is anything to go by, then perhaps what is most apparent out of all things is the fact that this battle of the brands is far from over, and may very well continue ad infinitum.
