Boom for 04/08/15: Rock N’ Roll

Kyle Garret
April 8, 2015
This Week in BOOM!

Oh, sure, I could say that the “rock n’ roll” in the title is a reference to Evil Empire writer Max Bemis from the band Say Anything, or to Translucid writer Claudio Sanchez from the band Coheed and Cambria, but let’s not be so obvious.  We’re talking about the second issue of the Bill and Ted series and the finale of Teen Dog.  That’s pretty rock n’ roll.

FEB151185Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #4 (Of 6)(Cover A Reimena Yee), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #4 (Of 6)(Cover B Sarah Dill), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #4 (Of 6)(Cover C Celine Loup), AR

Beginning the second half of what has been a really enjoyable, totally nutty adventure.  Given the quality of the spin-off books from the Adventure Time comic, I’m kind of surprised there aren’t more, or at least more as ongoing books.

Bee And Puppycat #8 (Cover A Hwei Lim), $3.99
Bee And Puppycat #8 (Cover B Mady Martin), $3.99
Bee And Puppycat #8 (Cover C Rebekka Dunlap), AR

I’ll admit it: this comic makes me feel very old.

Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #2 (Of 6)(Cover A Felipe Smith), $3.99
Bill And Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #2 (Of 6)(Cover B Dan Schoening), AR

Wyld Stallyns!

Bravest Warriors #31 (Cover A Ian McGinty), $3.99
Bravest Warriors #31 (Cover B Reed Black), $3.99

More quality Kaboom for the kids (and parents).

Deep State #5 (Cover A Matt Taylor), $3.99
Deep State #5 (Cover B Artyom Trakhanov), AR

You read the first collection last week, right?  So you’re on board now?

Escape From New York #5 (Cover A Mike Henderson), $3.99
Escape From New York #5 (Cover B Robert Sammelin), $3.99
Escape From New York #5 (Cover C Joseph Michael Linsner), AR
Robocop #10 (Cover A Carlos Magno), $3.99
Sleepy Hollow Origins #1 (One Shot)(Cover A Joe Quinones), $4.99
Peanuts Volume 5 TP, $13.99

This month’s selection of licensed books from Boom.  I just like putting Peanuts in the same group as Robocop.jan151137

Evil Empire #12 (Cover A Jay Shaw), $3.99

The epic finale!  I’m not sure if this will really be epic or not, but it’s been an excellent series, so I hope it gets a worthy send off.

Help Us Great Warrior #3 (Of 8)(Cover A William Gibbons), $3.99

So is the great warrior going to help or what?

Mouse Guard Legends Of Guard Volume 3 #2 (Of 4)(Cover A David Peterson), $3.99

So far so good for my first taste of Mouse Guard.

Teen Dog #8 (Of 8)(Cover A Jake Lawrence), $3.99

The grand finale!

feb151126Translucid TP, $19.99

I won’t lie, this series is pretty trippy, but it’s also pretty awesome.  And as great as the story is, the real draw here is the fantastic art from Daniel Bayliss.  His work manages to be innocent and creepy at the same time, with just enough psychodelica to make you wonder what’s real and what isn’t.  It’s a great series and a steal at this price, so you should check it out.

Munchkin #2 (Stefan Tosheff 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99
Curb Stomp #1 (Devaki Neogi 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99

And last, but not least, a few variants for you kids.
