Serious Issues and the Layman’s View Part 3 – Cerebus the Aardvark #1 (1977)

A column article, Serious Issues by: Chris Wunderlich

Running for exactly 300 issues, Dave Sim’s self-published Canadian classic Cerebus the Aardvark began here. Though the series would eventually become a complex, experimental reflection of Sim’s occasionally unpopular views, Cerebus began as a rather simple sword and sorcery parody. Breaking all the rules as a self-published comic book success, this “serious issue” (in good condition) fetches a hefty price on the collector’s market, but can it appeal someone relatively new to comics?
