Superman DC Icons statue 1:6 scale

Cyborg DC Icons statue 1:6 scale

Arrow Action Figure Two-Pack – Oliver Queen & Deathstroke

At Comics Bulletin, we are going to expand to cover the types of comic book related merchandise that fans crave. Today I’m going to review products from DC Collectibles, specifically, the Superman DC Icons statue 1:6 scale, Cyborg DC Icons statue 1:6 scale, and the Arrow Action Figure Two-Pack – Oliver Queen & Deathstroke. All three products are sculpted from the ever-popular Gentle Giant Studios.

First, I’m going to review the DC Icons statue 1:6 scale statue for Superman and Cyborg. These are a new line of statues for DC Collectibles, and they are pretty amazing. Both statues have the same specs – released in a limited edition of 5200, each measures approximately 11″ tall and captures their New 52 look.

I absolutely love the Superman sculpt and how the raised S-Shield takes up his whole chest. However, there are several problems that I have with the sculpt. It is a bit too dark, so you have to look really closely to see the armor indentations. The statue would probably look better if it had a sculpted cape rather than a cloth one. There are wires in the cape so you can move the cape to fit your desires, but the cape’s look is rather oddly shaped, as it is rather angular on the bottom. My only other complaint is that Superman looks like he went in a tanning salon in the yellow sun of earth before he was painted. With some minor changes, this would be a must-buy for all Superman fans. Especially fans who want his newer look from The New 52. And the statue can be inserted into a rather large base that really makes the figure stand out among others on display.

Superman

The Cyborg DC Icons 1:6 scale cold cast porcelain statue is much better presentation than the Superman statue. It has similar schematics to the Superman statue. The painting is accurate throughout, from Cyborg’s silver, black, and red armor to his skin tone. His pose is also more menacing than Superman, which I think is a good thing. You can just tell that Cyborg is about to shoot his way through Justice League villains. Again, this statue is very large and imposing. Gentle Giant did a great job on both statues, but the Cyborg statue is definitely superior.

Cyborg

Gentle Giant also put together another package for DC Collectibles; the Arrow Action Figure Two-Pack – featuring Oliver Queen & Deathstroke. These figures come in a special action figure 2-pack set! Deathstroke and Oliver Queen both stand 6.75″ tall, featuring their looks from season one of the TV hit, Arrow!

The sculpting and painting on the two figures are great, especially the likeness to Stephen Amell. Deathstroke is the Billy Wintergreen version, not Slade Wilson. These figures come with many accessories. Arrow comes with his bow from season one, two loose arrows, a bunch of six arrows sculpted together to go in his quiver, and interchangeable fisted hands and weapon holding hands.

Deathstroke comes with a sword, knife, pistol, and rifle. They each have a holster or sheath to keep them in, except for the rifle. The sword goes on his back, knife in a sheath on his lower left leg, and holster on right thigh for pistol.

Arrow and Deathstroke

The articulation on these figures is okay, but I wish it could have more movement. I’m excited to see an updated set, featuring their Season Two looks, which is a significant improvement visually. If you are a fan of the TV series, I highly recommend this pack!

Overall these products are fantastic, just a bit pricey. The statues MSRP for $99.99 and the Arrow two-pack is $49.99. But make no mistake, these products are worth every penny!
