Dirty Looks from Jon Lovitz

Dylan Garsee, Nick Hanover
September 15, 2012
Columns, Paranoid Video

No longer content to merely review television through the creative use of Friskies gifs and awkward jokes, Dylan Garsee and Nick Hanover have moved on to the internet airwaves, co-hosting CB's own entertainment podcast, Paranoid Video.

Paranoid Video Episode 1.15-

"Dirty Looks from Jon Lovitz"

The Emmy Awards are only a little over a week away, and Dylan is already jonesing like mad. Which is why I had to bring in some extra support to keep this episode of the podcast from being too Garsee for tv. Ryan Usher is a Paranoid Video veteran at this point, by which I mean he's now been in exactly two episodes. Meanwhile, Nate Abernethy, who is "Twitter famous" and also works with Dylan at the Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter, went head to head with Dylan over useless Emmy factoids. But before all that, we launched into a discussion of which comedian should punch which comedian.

As always, you can listen to the episode at the player below or download it here.

We spoke about news and comedian fisticuffs until 22:37 and to answer some of the unresolved questions generated during that time…

* Kris Jenner's first husband was Robert Kardashian

* This is the Patton Oswalt tumblr debacle Nate mentioned

* And this is Bill Hicks going nuclear on a heckler

After a brief musical interlude courtesy of Deltron 3030's "Memory Loss," we dig into the Emmy's beginning at 22:57

Let us know what you think of our Emmy predictions in the comments, and keep your eyes on this column as we're hoping to do something crazy for the actual broadcast.

The theme song and namesake for the show is Total Control's excellent "Paranoid Video".

And in case you want to know what we look like, here is a visual representation of Dylan and myself, courtesy of Emily Marie Palmer:

Dylan Garsee is a freelance writer/bingo enthusiast currently living in Austin, TX. He is studying sociology, and when he's not winning trivia nights at pork-themed restaurants, writing a collection of essays on the gay perspective in geek culture. An avid record collector, Dylan can mostly be seen at Waterloo Records, holding that one God Speed You! Black Emperor record he can't afford and crying. You can follow him on twitter @garseed.

When he's not writing about the cape and spandex set and functioning as the Co-Managing Editor of Comics Bulletin, Nick Hanover is a book, film and music critic who has contributed to Spectrum Culture, No Tofu Magazine, Performer Magazine, Port City Lights and various other international publications. By which he means Canadian rags you have no reason to know anything about. He also translates for "Partytime" Lukash's Panel Panopticon and you can follow him on twitter @Nick_Hanover

About The Author

Dylan Garsee, Nick Hanover

Nick Hanover got his degree from Disneyland, but he’s the last of the secret agents and he’s your man. Which is to say you can find his particular style of espionage here at Loser City as well as Ovrld, where he contributes music reviews and writes a column on undiscovered Austin bands. You can also flip through his archives at Comics Bulletin, which he is formerly the Co-Managing Editor of, and Spectrum Culture, where he contributed literally hundreds of pieces for a few years. Or if you feel particularly adventurous, you can always witness his odd .gif battles with Dylan Garsee on twitter: @Nick_Hanover
