“Time abhors a paradox.”

— Brendan Wright, Dark Horse Comics Editor

“Herb derb.”

— Anonymous

In true time traveler fashion, I’ve been a huge fan of Matt Kindt’s and Scott Kolins’ original series Past Aways since the months before its official debut.  The series, published by Dark Horse Comics, put a fancy new spin on an old premise.  A dysfunctional group of time travelers from the far flung future go back to the present day to chronologue Earth culture circa 2015, only to find themselves stranded in our primitive society.

However, that’s not all!  These weary scientists in search of home can’t die in the past.  PLUS, as the series opens, the Past Aways discover that more sinister things from the future have joined them in 2015, leaving them fearful of the world that is and hopeful that they might discover a path back to their world, the place that will someday be.

The series has proven itself capable of being zany, grim, hilarious, and poignant all it once.  Most of all, it’s been one of the most entertaining new reads of 2015.  We at Comics Bulletin are proud to reveal the cover of Past Aways #8, out this October:

PAWAYS #8 FC SOL

Past Aways #8

Matt Kindt (W), Scott Kolins (A/Cover), and Bill Crabtree (C)

On sale Nov

FC, 40 pages

The super-evolved strangers from the far future make a shocking revelation regarding their point of origin, and the Past Aways tenuously reunite under a new leader with a restored sense of purpose—but can it last?!

Oh Herb.  You look like you’re about to derb.  Also: 40 pages?!  Whaaaaa?!

For more coverage of Past Aways, check out my two part interview with Matt Kindt and series editor Brendan Wright, as well as my interview with Scott Kolins.
