Good News:

Darick Robertson is gonna be takin’ over the Hulk with issue #75. Darick has been a very good buddy of mine since he was workin’ in the warehouse back in San Mateo, California. In fact, he and I were even talkin’ on the phone back when the San Francisco area had that big quake back in the early 90s. One of Darick’s early works was a Beau LaDuke story for me at Eclipse Comics. Guess who he had inkin’ his work on that little story? Answer: Another young turk of the time?Tim Bradstreet!

Needless to say both have gone on to better things.

My advice is to check out Darick’s work on The Incredible Hulk. He’s gonna smack ass with this.

Good News:

Another Marvel book that you’re gonna need to scope out has another buddy of mine on art chores. Scot Eaton will be the new artist on Captain America. If ever Scot was born to do a book it was Captain America. Robert Kirkman will be writing the book. He is also a talented nice guy. The pages that I’ve seen so far have been knock out stuff. Find out why Scot’s work was too good for the CrossGen salt mines.

Bad News:

I’m not writin’ Captain America or The Incredible Hulk.

“Pretty Tough” Art by Carlos Ferreira

Good News:

A couple of columns ago I gave all of ya an exclusive debut to my newest creator owned project?Pretty Tough. I showed ya some art for it. Just a sketch of the main character?Molly McKenzie. Well now I can show you the cover for Pretty Tough. As you can see, it’s a killer piece. The art is done by Carlos Ferreria. Carlos is the same great artist that drew my latest series Wynonna Earp: Home On The Strange. Carlos has a real Adam Hughes/Terry Dodson style. Check out this cover and you’ll see for yourself.

Good News:

Later this year IDW Publishing will be doin’ a book called IDW Tales Of Terror. I’ve got a very quirky tale of Wynonna Earp in that issue. One that I think you’ll enjoy because of the slant I take on pop culture. I’ve already written the story. It got big smiles at the IDW Publishing office.

Bad News:

There should be more Marvel Essentials. I love these books and can’t get enough of em’. It’s like goin’ back to my childhood in a time machine. I wish other publishers would do these wonderful black and white phone books. Pick one up sometime and get some history.

Good News:

The San Diego Comic Con is comin’ up next month and I am gonna be there spreadin’ the good IDW word. I’m lookin’ forward to seein’ most of ya there. So if you’re plannin’ on goin’ stop by the IDW Publishing booth and say howdy. If you’re smart you’ll bring me somethin’ nice. I’m greedy like that.

Bad News:

Ya know, I’m getting’ tired of some people in comics that seem to get a perverse kick outta CrossGen goin’ outta business. The reason I get pissed is because CrossGen bein’ on the short end of the stick means people are outta work. People I know. People I call friends. I love the comic book business, warts and all. I don’t like it when others in the biz bag on it. Those folks should be happy about two things.

One?That they get to work in comics.

Two?That I’m not their boss, cause if I were they wouldn’t be workin’ in comics.

Good News:

I’ve just added some new photos and art to my website. Go check it out.

Bad News:

There is a certain “big shot” that works for a major publisher that has decided to bad mouth me and my West Virginia up bringin’. This person likes to make fun of my non-metro way of livin’. He has called me “The Cowboy Clown of Comics.”. I don’t even know this person that well. I’ve talked to him a few times through out the years, more so when I worked for Todd McFarlane. My advice to this person is not to bump into me at a convention or a show. I will ask you about what you have said about me. I may not like the answers you give me. I’m not a hard guy to find. Never have been.

Bad News:

It’s not football season

Bad News:

They no longer make Grizzly Beer.

Good News:

Eva Mendes

Good News:

I get to write this column.

Bad News:

Poor Jason Brice has to read and edit them. [Ed’s Note: It’s a pleasure working with Beau! Honest!]

That’s about all the news I’ve got for ya this week. Check back with me and maybe I’ll have more another time.

In the mean time? pray you’re not that “Big Shot” that I’m lookin’ for.
