If you are a fan of Fist of Justice (and let’s face it, who isn’t) you will be totally excited to learn that the Fist of Justice Kickstarter for issue #7 was fully funded in just nine hours! Yep, you read that right Nine hours! Those folks that were early pledgers, should head over to the Fist of Justice Kickstarter page then scroll down to the bottom of the page to see what freebies Digital Webbing is tossing in your direction! Well, the Kickstarter is now in the home stretch which means stretch goals and pledge bonus territory for all!
Just in case you are coming into all of this cold (we understand, really we do), Fist of Justice was a superhero, and the Greatest Defender of Charm City during the ‘70s and now he’s back. However, much to his surprise, things in the 21st Century are…well, different. You see, Fist of Justice was the super-heroic defender of Charm City until he made a fatal mistake that ended his career. He threw in the towel and was locked away and soon forgotten. But his power — though dormant — never actually left him. Now it has returned and resurrected FOJ; restoring him as defender of a city dealing with the new villains of the 21st Century; villains, as it turns out, who are tougher, stronger, and meaner than ever before.
Needless to say, after last issue’s surprise ending, you are all probably wondering if Ellison Maximillan can be trusted. Further, what’s going on at the Kane Institute? Can Dr. Benson help Blaze control his powers and is Carl okay? What’s delivered in the mail that has Harlan so surprised? And just what’s the deal with this flying misanthrope that has his sights set directly on Fist of Justice? All this and more. You all have questions, and you all want answers so come on and support issue #7 as that’s where they all are — inside issue #7!
According to Ed Dukeshire running a Kickstarter to fund the issue allows him and his creative crew to reach a wider audience — one beyond their limited convention appearances and local comic shop distribution. The comic industry’s main distributor is Diamond Comics and they tried that route with Fist of Justice for several issues, but it ultimately became financially impossible for them to keep the comic series going in that direction. So they’re going direct to our fans via Kickstarter. It’s where they get to interact with FOJ supporters. Hence this is why their funding goal for this issue is extremely low since they already paid the talent fees. They really just need help on printing and reward costs. All extra funding will go towards talent fees on the next issue, plus new rewards, and some cool stretch goals we have planned.
If you were one of the supporters who was able to take part in their first Kickstarter, you experienced first-hand all the extra goodies we tossed at you for supporting us. That will continue here as they surpass our funding goal. Oh yeah, Dukeshire tells us that one of the stretch goals he discussed was including FOJ #8 with all pledges for FOJ #7, and now he wants to see if he can make that happen!
This project will be funded on Saturday, November 15 2014.
