Wow! This was great! And I had high hopes for it because I loved the first one so I’m impressed that it lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed the second issue so much! It still feels very Phonogram-y, but I like it better. This issue also had a distinct Scott Pilgrim vibe. I can’t get over how amazing the neon color scheme looks and the wiggedy feeling it gives to the comic. If you passed on the first issue of Limbo, think again! This series is DEFINITELY worth a shot.
Monstress is a wonderful comic with gorgeous art and awesome ladies. The art is intricate and detailed, with an elegant, almost steam punky aesthetic.
Each issue of Head Lopper is oversized because it only comes out four times a year instead of monthly. I was so incredibly delighted with the first issue and I cannot wait to read the second. Picture a tough, viking hunter guy leaping across a gorge saying, “Hop. Hop. Hop.” with each step. This delightful warrior is accompanied by a talking severed witch’s head that has more sass than most people have in their entire body. This comic is so well written and so fun.
Since No Mercy started I’ve been fascinated with the way it uses technology throughout its narrative. I know that this story arc will delve more into the world of Facebook and I am very excited to see how it will handle the medium.
Tomboy #1 was a surprisingly fantastic title from Action Lab that I honestly had completely overlooked in the days leading up to its release. Its a very dark take on a magic girl story that puts you on the edge of your seat and leaves you questioning morality.
It’s noir, it’s in Alaska, and it involves the witness protection program. Seems like the makings of a great first issue to me!
