We as comic readers are inundated with a myriad of new books every week. Each title is hoping to be the one to grab our attention and be a regular fixture in our pull list. These are just a few highlights for this upcoming Wednesday.
The Flash #64 (DC Comics)
In the fallout of Heroes in Crisis comes the Batman/Flash crossover, “The Price.” Joshua Williamson’s run on The Flash has been arguably the best run on the title since Barry Allen was resurrected in 2009. Using deities as an analogue for criminal gangs, Blackbird contains a surprising amount of social commentary wrapped in a great-looking package.
Vampirella: Valentine’s Day Special #1 (Dynamite)
I’ve checked over and over again, and it looks like Dynamite is the only publisher producing a comic honoring everyone’s favorite (or most loathed) holiday. Normally, I wouldn’t pick up a Vampirella book as the character has never been of interest to me. However, ‘tis the season, and since every other major publisher is dropping the ball this week, this will have to do.
