Classic television fans rejoice! MPI Home Video has just released the complete 3-season series of the unforgettable comedy “My Favorite Martian”, starring Ray Walston and Bill Bixby. The 15-disc set contains, for the first time, all 107 episodes of the iconic television program and transports the viewers back to a more innocent, care-free day. Season Three is in color!
Originally aired between 1963 and 1966, and enjoying a top 10 debut in its opening season, these delightful, laugh-out-loud DVD exploits of Tim O’Hara, newspaperman for the Los Angeles Sun and his new, live-in “Uncle Martin,” the original alien, document the inevitable comic moments of this Martian anthropologist as he learns more about earth inhabitants in his new surroundings.
Tim does his level best to keep life as normal as possible while trying to make a living and keep his overly friendly landlady, Mrs. Brown, from catching on to the gig. Uncle Martin continues, meanwhile, to try to repair his damaged ship, carefully concealed in the garage beneath Tim’s apartment in hopes that he can soon return to the red planet he calls home. The problem that often arises, however, is that so much of what is needed for repairs has yet to be invented.
Among other notable adventures contained in this collection, Uncle Martin perfects a time machine that allows transport to early Hollywood and Medieval England, allowing for interaction with famous historical figures like Jesse James and Leonardo da Vinci.
Our Martian protagonist, has, of course, visited the planet many times in the past and often comments about his interactions with historical figures and his “suggestions” which helped them become significant, whether it was helping to inspire Shakespeare or giving tips to Sigmund Freud. Martin’s powers of invisibility, communicating with animals and levitation and mind-reading only add to the predicaments and dealing with issues that surround him and his “nephew.”
This set includes multiple special features which include an interview with Ray Walston and Bill Bixby conducted by none other than Lucille Ball, original commercials, photo galleries and comic strips and much more. Scattered throughout the 50+ hours of viewing entertainment are appearances by some of the finest actors of the era, such as Henry Gibson, Jamie Farr, Marlo Thomas and Gavin MacLeod.
You and your family will thoroughly enjoy discovering this immortal sitcom that made living rooms across America laugh along with “My Favorite Martian”. Without a doubt, this high quality collection will make “My Favorite Martian” into your favorite Martian.
