The renowned creative team behind the Harvey-nominated series The Only Living Boy, David Gallaher and Steve Ellis, are returning to the world they have build with a new protagonist, new setting, and new stories to tell in The Only Living Girl. Comics Bulletin has received a first look at he series – check it out!

AWARD-WINNING CREATORS DAVID GALLAHER AND STEVE ELLIS BRING THE ONLY LIVING GIRL TO PAPERCUTZ

Creators of acclaimed The Only Living Boy series launch a new five volume adventure series

August 17 2018 — NEW YORK, NY — David Gallaher and Steve Ellis, the award-winning creative team behind the critically acclaimed graphic novel series THE ONLY LIVING BOY, are teaming up with industry-leading kids graphic novel publisher Papercutz to bring their new series THE ONLY LIVING GIRL to comic book shops, bookstores and libraries everywhere. The publisher has announced a multi-volume deal with Gallaher and Ellis’ Bottled Lightning, brokered by Dara Hyde at the Hill Nadell Literary Agency, that will see the new series of paperback and hardcover volumes debut beginning in March 2019.

THE ONLY LIVING GIRL tells the story of Zandra ‘Zee’ Parfitt — one of the last human survivors of a cosmic disaster. After learning that her late father was responsible, Zee and her companions — former classmate Erik Farrell and mermaid warrior Morgan — embark on a dangerous quest filled with robots, monsters, super science, unknown civilizations, and unlikely allies. Together they push back against the relentless Consortium, who want control of this new world and conspire to stop her at any cost. Through it all, Zee searches for the truth of her past so she can redeem her father’s legacy.

“THE ONLY LIVING GIRL takes place in the same universe as THE ONLY LIVING BOY, but has been created as a clear jumping on point for new readers,” said writer and co-creator David Gallaher. “New readers won’t need to have read the previous series, which focused on 12-year-old Erik Farrell’s adventures on the patchwork planet, but fans of that series will discover that THE ONLY LIVING GIRL builds on the world and concepts that were first introduced there in a really cool way.”

“We’re thrilled to tell the story of Zee and her motley crew,” Ellis remarked. “She is a brilliant character who, despite her successes, constantly wrestles with her own problematic past. I think that’s something we can all relate to.”

“THE ONLY LIVING GIRL is an epic fantasy with a deeply personal focus; there’s a bountiful sense of imagination to the series that’s both dangerous and wonderful,” said Jim Salicrup, Editor-in-Chief of Papercutz. “We think it is tremendously prescient.”

“We’ve love our relationship with Papercutz,” said Gallaher. “When we looked at Papercutz’ continued history of success with everything from THE WENDY PROJECT to the Charmz line of graphic novels, we knew we had found a home for THE ONLY LIVING GIRL.”

Publishing of the print collections will begin with a 64 page first volume entitled “Island at the Edge of Infinity” set to arrive in March 2019, followed by Volume 2 in July, Volume 3 in October, with more volumes to follow in 2020.

“We’ve got an outstanding mix of creators, concepts and characters here,” notes Papercutz publisher Terry Nantier. “We’re looking forward to introducing readers to this what will surely be their new favorite series!”

If it's bad... there's a chance he still might read it.
