Amelia checks out a boatload of Square Enix games at PAX Prime Day Two, as well as some Bioware adaptations from Dark Horse and a few panels on domesticity and gaming.
I started off today by checking out a panel called Infinite Respawn: How Gaming can Keep and Save your Relationship. This was a great panel, hosted by The Married Gamers. It was interesting to hear other people’s stories of gaming and relationships, and it’s a topic I always enjoy exploring.
Following the panel, I caught up with Dave Marshall, editor for Dark Horse, to talk about new Mass Effect releases, including their new title The Art of Mass Effect, as well as their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic releases. I got lots of great information and I’ll write up the whole interview soon so everyone can hear all the details!
Next up, I visited with the folks from Reverb Communications, chatted with the developers and play-tested a bit of Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon, created by the people behind the hit Comedy Central show and Bloodrayne: Betrayal.
I got a rundown from the guys at Ignition Entertainment on their new game El Shaddai, which features hypnotic artwork and an intriguing storyline.
I was thrilled to have the chance to visit with the folks from Square Enix, since I’ve been a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise since the very beginning (oh man, do I feel old). I got the opportunity to play-test a number of their new games and learn more about them. The ones I played today were:
* Deus Ex: Human Revolution (I really suck at first person shooters– I think the guys were laughing at me…)
* Heroes of Ruin
* Final Fantasy XIII-2
I’ll go far more in depth with these soon. I loved FFXIII-2!
I wrapped up the day with a panel called Raising Kids (Girls Even) as Gamers. Another great panel, led by two writers for TIME magazine.
What’s up for tomorrow? After the press Q&A, I’ll be spending a lot of time standing in line for the Knights of the Old Republic showing, and later in the day I’ll get to visit with the folks behind Firefall, one of the major stars of this year’s PAX! Hopefully I’ll get to visit with some more independents and play-test a few more titles.
