Podcast: Emmett Plant reads Paper Girls v1—RCBC

Reboot Comic Book Club

Welcome non-comics guest but all-nerd badass Emmett Plant to his first time on the Reboot Comic Book Club!

Download the MP3 | Subscribe on iTunes | Subscribe on Stitcher |View Archives

Emmett is a composer, producer, writer, all-around geek, and regular at Joe’s comic shop, Dr. Fantasy’s Comics ‘N More in Glendale, AZ.

The founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Clockwork Jetpack, Emmett has experience doing audio work for Star Trek productions, video games, and much more. IN FACT, he is so nice that he is gave us our new theme music you hear on this episode! Thanks, Emmett!

He chose to read the newly collected Paper Girls from Cliff Chiang and Brian K. Vaughan. The story of a new girl to town finding a clan and a shit ton of trouble in the late Halloween hours during the Regan presidency (deep breath) involving time travel, text-speaking spaceknights, and teens saying NO to The Man. Yes, it’s a fucking head trip.

Emmett on Paper Girls:
“These are kids in the suburb. No question. But it is very tied specifically to my age. These girls are my age at that time… They’re on CB radios, they’re talking about the Today Show with Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley… You get that sense right away but it’s handled in asides. It’s very clear that these aren’t teenagers in 2016.”

Check out Emmett’s Soundcloud account for kickass tunes!

Music: “Chipfunk” by Emmett Plant
