Megan brought along a Michael DeForge comic for the book club: First Year Healthy. It’s only a 30 page comic that contains more thematic depth and nuance than many series do throughout 100s of pages. The conversation is great, largely thanks to Megan, and we think you’ll want to check out this book and more of DeForge’s work afterward. He is the true Canadian bacon. Also, please consider checking out The MNT at this link if you haven’t already. Megan, along with Christian Hoffer and Steve Morris, are setting the bar for comics journalism there for only $1 per month.
We also cover two new comics in our review segment.
The Visitor #1

She Wolf #6

Finally, in The Comics Canon, we take on whether a certain comic deserves to be considered a classic of the medium. This isn’t for obvious cases like Watchmen or Maus. It’s defined for well-loved or forgotten comics that might need to be reassessed. This week we tackle Lost Dogs, the debut of current comics superstar Jeff Lemire, although we have some mixed feelings on his career thus far.
We hope you enjoy the continuation of our newest reboot on the Reboot Comic Book Club Podcast, long may it last.
