"You've Got Trouble"

Writer: Keith Giffin
Artists: Dean Haspiel
Publisher: DC

This issue of Justice League Adventures focuses on a quiet night turned dangerously noisy for the Flash and J'onn J'onzz. You are also not misreading the credits. Keith Giffin does indeed write the book.

Because of Justice League International readers expect a certain sense of style from Mr. Giffin. The problem is that style is missing from the lion's share of the book, and in fact the whole of the story seems trite.

The dull ride however is worth it because Giffin has been calculating the reaction of his readers, and he's provided a seriously hilarious light at the end of an ennui-laden tunnel.

Dean Haspiel contributed the memorable artwork for a stand-alone issue of Batman Adventures, and he will not disappoint any fans here. He provides on-model versions of the Flash and the Martian Manhunter which also bear his whimsical, artistic style. His detailed backdrops help enliven an otherwise dull affair that's anything but when the punchline hits you full force.
