There’s a gremlin on the wing!! Oh wait, that’s another story. There are however, little gremlin-type alien guys running around all over the place in this issue, and they’re doing whatever they can to make Hal Jordan’s life a living hell, from giving Black Hand new deadly abilities to possibly being behind Hector Hammond’s and the Shark’s abilities to abducting Hal Jordan. A showdown is on the horizon, and it won’t be pretty.

This is my first encounter with the Shark character. Just going by the last page or two of issue #4, I was wondering how a character that’s a shark could possibly match up against Green Lantern. According to this issue the Shark’s “evolved electric sensory organs give him a pseudo-psychic ability... that triggers fear in his prey – paralyzing them.” That explains how he might have some chance against Hal.

The art is excellent once again. As I stated before, I’d like to see Carlos Pacheco make a return, which he will, because I prefer the bright and adventurous Hal Jordan, but Ethan’s art is appropriate for the dark tone this story is taking, so I can’t fault him for that.

Overall, I found this issue an improvement on the last one. A lot more happened in this issue, setting up a lot more to happen next issue, and an old joke of a villain was given a new deadly lease on life. Now we get to wait a month to find out how the aliens plan on altering Hal Jordan…and how he plans on stopping them. I can’t wait.
