Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #1

Writer: Ramon Lindeloe
Artist: Leinil Francis Yu

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Storyline: It appears that there is a problem in the UMU (Ultimate Marvel Universe) that even Nick Fury of SHIELD canít solveÖAfter literally dropping a nuclear bomb on him, Bruce Banner (a.k.a. The Hulk) is still on a rampage to find inner peace (sort of an oxymoron but weíll just continue). I wonít go into more detail because itíll spoil what little backstory there is, and you know you donít really care why theyíre unleashing Wolverine on the Hulk anyway.

Critique: Let me just say that the splash on pages 2 and 3 and the significance of it are well worth the cost of the issue, unless Marvel backs away and somehow makes this a non-event. (If you havenít seen the advance images, youíll be totally blown away! If itís already been spoiled, itís still worth the price of the issue even if there wasnít anything else in the issue!) While the issue is long on dialogue and scant on action (sans the image already mentioned), I think it does well to set up what has to be ultimately done. Letís hope that Marvel treats this storyline as a part of the continuum that wonít just fade away.
