Day Men #6

There’s an exciting return in this week’s list of Boom loot…

Adventure Time Volume 6 TP, $14.99

I feel like Boom is doing everything right with Adventure Time.  This collection contains 5 issues and I would guess you’d be able to find this for less than listed price, which makes it a great deal.

Amazing World Of Gumball #8 (Cover A Missy Pena), $3.99
Amazing World Of Gumball #8 (Cover B Zackary Giallongo), $3.99
Amazing World Of Gumball #8 (Cover C Lauren Duda), AR

Okay, fine, I didn’t get caught up on this series by this issue like I said I would.  In my defense, I have a one year old who still like me.

Cluster #2 (Cover A James Stokoe), $3.99
Cluster #2 (Cover B Declan Shalvey), AR

The first issue of this series was fantastic, even better than I expected, and the art was great.  If you’re looking for a fast paced sci-fi story with some impressive character work for a single issue, check this out.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Contagion #1 (One Shot)(Cover A Garry Brown), $4.99

Hmmm, a one shot might be the perfect way into the comic book world of the apes for someone like me…

Day Men #6 (Cover A Brian Stelfreeze), $3.99

Huzzah, it’s the return of Day Men!  When I first started doing this whole Boom thing, there were a couple of titles I had yet to check out (okay, fine, there are still some I need to check out, I’m only a human man), Day Men being one of them.  I really enjoyed it.  Sure, the idea of humans who do things for vampires during the day might not set the world ablaze, but the execution has been great.  The art has also been top notch.

Evil Empire Volume 1 TP, $14.99

Hey, it’s the Evil Empire trade I mentioned last week!  Go buy this.  Yes, it’s written by a rock n’ roll guy, but it’s also really good.  Seriously, stop being a jerk and buy it.  It collects the first four issues, which means it’s a dollar cheaper than buying them in the monthly format and you’ll probably get a discount on it, too.  It’s worth it.

Feathers #3 (Of 6)(Cover A Jorge Corona), $3.99

This is a great new series, highly recommended.  The Archaia imprint publishes nothing but gems.

Fiction Squad #6 (Of 6)(Cover A Ramon Backs), $3.99

The epic conclusion!  I don’t know that, as it’s not really my bag, but I would guess that it’s a big deal for fans of the series.

Garfield #35 (Cover A Andy Hirsch), $3.99
Garfield #35 (Cover B Andy Hirsch), AR

I’ve always loved Garfield.  I had those wide screen collections when I was a kid.  I have to admit, though, that Garfield Without Garfield could be the greatest thing Garfield has ever been a part of.

HaloGen #1 (Of 4)(Cover A Afu Chan), $3.99
HaloGen #1 (Of 4)(Cover B Ramon K. Perez), AR
HaloGen #1 (Of 4)(Cover C Giannis Milonogiannis), AR

Per the solicit: “…a series perfect for fans of Prophet, Rocket Girl, and The Fifth Element.”  SOLD!

conjob

Palmiotti And Brady’s The Big Con Job #1

Palmiotti And Brady’s The Big Con Job #1 (Of 4)(Cover A Amanda Conner), $3.99
Palmiotti And Brady’s The Big Con Job #1 (Of 4)(Cover B Jay Shaw), $3.99
Palmiotti And Brady’s The Big Con Job #1 (Of 4)(Cover C Trevor Hairsine), AR
Palmiotti And Brady’s The Big Con Job #1 (Of 4)(Cover D Dan McDaid), AR

Sometimes the comparisons to other stories can seem like a stretch, but the synopsis for this series does, in fact, make it sound like Ocean’s 11 meets Galaxy Quest.  And, really, if you can’t excited about that combo, there’s no hope for you.

Robocop #9 (Cover A Carlos Magno), $3.99

Does Robocop still police Detroit?  Or was that changed in the revamp?

Steven Universe #8 (Cover A Amber Rogers), $3.99
Steven Universe #8 (Cover B Bridget Underwood), $3.99
Steven Universe #8 (Cover C Helen Yoon), AR

What looks to be another winner from Kaboom!

Woods #11 (Cover A Michael Dialynas), $3.99

I read the first few issues of this (thanks to Boom’s fantastic Humble Bundle), but wasn’t a fan.  However, there’s some solid buzz behind this book, so maybe it’s worth another look see.  The initial concept, at least, is really interesting: an entire high school is transported to another world/dimension/reality.

Bravest Warriors #25 (Kate Leth NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Fraggle Rock Journey To The Everspring #1 (Of 4)(Sean Rubin NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Uncle Grandpa #1 (Bob Flynn Stan Lee’s Comikaze Variant Cover), $9.99
George Perez’s Sirens #1 (Of 6)(Adam Hughes NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99

You’re latest batch of variants in advance of a convention.
