This Week in Boom! for 02/04/15

This Week in BOOM!

Welcome to another week of releases from Boom! Studios!

Cluster #1 (Cover A James Stokoe), $3.99
Cluster #1 (Cover B Simon Roy), $3.99
Cluster #1 (Cover C Trevor Hairsine), AR
Cluster #1 (Cover D Declan Shalvey), AR

This is an interesting looking sci-fi series from Sons of Anarchy creative team Ed Brisson and Damian Couceiro.  Criminals given the option to serve out a shorter sentence as members of the military isn’t an entirely new idea, but Brisson seems to have an interesting angle on it, between a war that seems to be more than it appears and criminals who might not actually be guilty.

escapeEscape From New York #3 (Cover A Declan Shalvey), $3.99
Escape From New York #3 (Cover B Riley Rossmo), $3.99
Escape From New York #3 (Cover C Chris Visions), AR

See?  Kurt Russel.

Fall Of Cthulhu Omnibus TP, $39.99

Boom’s omnibuses are great because they’re not completely unwieldy like those published by certain other comic book companies.

Feathers #2 (Of 6)(Cover A Jorge Corona), $3.99

I really enjoyed the first issue of this book and I’m eager to see where it goes from here.  If you’re looking for something magical and fun, check this out.

Fiction Squad #5 (Of 6)(Cover A Ramon Backs), $3.99

I don’t know what to make of Fiction Squad.  The tone of the series seems to fluctuate between a book for kids and a book for adults.  Then there’s the art; the women in this book look ridiculous.  It’s unfortunate, really, as I’ve read other work by these creators and it’s been excellent.

Garfield #34 (Cover A Andy Hirsch), $3.99
Garfield #34 (Cover B Roger Langridge), AR
Peanuts Volume 5 TP, $13.99

Boom seems to be doing really well with these comics based on comic strips.  It’s an entire world of the medium that I know very little about.

Robocop #8 (Cover A Goni Montes), $3.99

Boom might publish the most diverse line-up of comics of any publisher, even Image.

Steven Universe #7 (Cover A Amber Rogers), $3.99steve
Steven Universe #7 (Cover B Ru Xu), $3.99
Steven Universe #7 (Cover C Helen Yoon), AR

Adventure Time is the gift that keeps on giving (Steven Universe having been created by Rebecca Sugar, who worked on Adventure Time).  Boom seems to have found a veritable treasure trove of talented creators in the animation world, too, something I don’t feel like other companies do much of.

George Perez’s Sirens #1 (George Perez Baltimore Comic Con Variant Cover), $9.99
Sleepy Hollow #1 (Of 4)(Noelle Stevenson NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Steven Universe #1 (Amber Rogers Baltimore Comic Con Variant Cover), $9.99
Munchkin #1 (Ian McGinty 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99
Teen Dog #1 (Of 8)(Jake Lawrence NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Thomas Alsop #1 (Of 8)(Peter Snejbjerg NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Uncle Grandpa #1 (Allison Strejlau NYCC Variant Cover), $9.99
Woods #10 (Cover A Michael Dialynas), $3.99

Variants for everyone!
