This Week in Boom for 2/11/15

This Week in BOOM!

Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #2 This is a fantastic week of comics from Boom, featuring some of my favorite books.

Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #2 (Of 6)(Cover A Reimena Yee), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #2 (Of 6)(Cover B Adam Gorham), $3.99
Adventure Time Marceline Gone Adrift #2 (Of 6)(Cover C Kat Leyh), AR

So I’ve been saying for months now that I need to get up to date on the Kaboom line of comics and, believe it or not, I have.  The start of this new limited series was the perfect way in for me and, I have to say, it was pretty great.  It moved quickly but wasn’t confusing, which is saying a lot about a comic which features a talking cinnamon bun.

Bravest Warriors #29 (Cover A Ian McGinty), $3.99
Bravest Warriors #29 (Cover B Remeina Yee), $3.99
Bravest Warriors #29 (Cover C Jasmine Goggins), AR

Still haven’t cracked this series yet, though.

Deep State #4 (Cover A Matt Taylor), $3.99
Deep State #4 (Cover B Artyom Trakhanov), AR

While not recreating the wheel, Deep State has been an enjoyable X-Files type story, but there seems to be more bubbling below the surface.  So far we’ve been steeped in story with not many chances to dig into our main characters, which is where I think the majority of the depth for this series is going to come from.

Help Us Great Warrior #1 (Of 8)(Cover A Madeleine Flores), $3.99
Help Us Great Warrior #1 (Of 8)(Cover B Shelli Paroline & Braden Lamb), $3.99
Help Us Great Warrior #1 (Of 8)(Cover C MAiS2), AR

I’ve never read the web comic by Madeleine Flores, so I’m looking forward to checking this out, particularly when the solicit text references Lumberjanes.

Hexed #7 (Cover A Dan Mora), $3.99Hexed #7

You should be reading this.  The art is wonderful and the characters are great and it honestly has the potential to go on forever and still be entertaining.  Hexed is just really enjoyable.

Lumberjanes #9 (Brooke A. Allen 2nd Printing Variant Cover), $3.99

A variant cover to help entice those heathens who haven’t experienced the frenetic beauty of Lumberjanes.  It’s completely original and always fun.

Suicide Risk Volume 4 TP, $14.99

Is this Boom’s longest running series?

Teen Dog #6 (Of 8)(Cover A Jake Lawrence), $3.99

Poochie!

Wild’s End #6 (Of 6)(Cover A I.N.J. Culbard), $3.99

I am honestly quite sad to see this series end.  I hope there’s a sequel and I say that without having read the finale.  But the last five issues have been delightful and legitimately scary at the same time.  It’s actually very simple and great.  This could be my favorite Boom series of the last year.
