The Thing on the Doorstep

Award-winning writer Simon Birks (The Shadow Over Innsmouth) and acclaimed artist Willi Roberts (The Blood Below) join letterer Rob Jones (Hitomi, Skulduggery Pleasant) to bring to life a chilling new series, The Thing on the Doorstep, based on the classic tale by H.P. Lovecraft.
The Thing on the Doorstep draws readers into the shadowed labyrinth of friendship warped by forces not meant for human witness. Daniel Upton and Edward Derby have been bound together since youth—until the day Daniel puts a bullet in his closest companion within the bleak walls of Arkham Sanitarium. Though all evidence damns him, Daniel claims innocence, hinting at horrors that mock reason itself. Within these pages, readers uncover the terrible truth: the birth of a doomed relationship and Edward Derby’s gradual surrender to realms of dread that lie just beyond the fragile veil.
The Center Holds #1

Legendary writer Larry Hama and the late M.D. “Doc” Bright present The Center Holds, a superhero series that questions the very nature of what it means to be a hero.
At its core, The Center Holds is built around a grounded, immediately legible idea: in a world where superheroes are no longer rare anomalies, accountability has become unavoidable. Heroes are unionised, damages are tracked, lawsuits are real, and collateral destruction carries financial consequences. It’s a premise that feels less like genre novelty and more like an inevitable evolution of the superhero world, one that treats power as something regulated rather than mythologised. From the outset, the book makes it clear this system isn’t window dressing. Liability, ownership, and responsibility are positioned as central tensions, not background detail.

Universal Monsters: Phantom of the Opera #1

The Universal Monsters comics continue with an adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera by Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds. The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux is one of the best-loved gothic horror novels of all-time. Of course, the story was made into a pop culture phenomenon thanks to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical. And now, the seminal work is being reimagined in comics from esteemed creators Tyler Boss (You’ll Do Bad Things) and Martin Simmonds (The Department of Truth).
Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera takes readers on a new foray deep beneath the grand chandelier of the infamous opera house. Boss and Simmonds’ comic series offers a terrifying new vision of the iconic story. The official synopsis from Image Comics reads:
A young soprano, Christine, finds her career in chaos after a series of violent crimes plagues the Paris Opera House. But the show must go on, and Christine will discover that no one – especially the mysterious voice whispering from the eaves – is what they seem. As an old friend returns to investigate these surprising attacks, Christine will discover her connection to the truth and the man known as…THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Bleeding Hearts #1

From Assorted Crisis Events to Absolute Martian Manhunter, Deniz Camp is having one of the best moments of his career. In fact, we declared Assorted Crisis Events our favourite comic book of the year for 2025. So naturally, when we found out that Camp was tackling the zombie genre in Bleeding Hearts, we were VERY excited. Bring it on.
The description for Bleeding Hearts: “The zombies won—and ten years after the fall of humanity, they’re the dominant form of life (or not-life) on Earth. They’ve developed their own cultural practices, their own language, their own society. Mouse-Pokes-Golf-Ball-Through-Hole-In-Head (“Poke” for short) is a beloved member of his community, and with his brother-in-arm Mush, he’s happy to shamble along through the only world he can remember…until the day his heart mysteriously starts beating again. And in a blink, the first humans he sees have stopped looking like food and have started looking like…friends…?”
Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral (2026) #1

Between an all-new Iron Man series, a new Daredevil series, and more, 2026 is looking very bright for Marvel Comics. One upcoming run that particularly catches the eye is Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral from the creative team of writers Al Ewing, Joe Kelly, and Charles Soule, and penciller Jesus Saiz.
The official synopsis reads: “FIRST YOUR FRIENDS. THEN YOUR FAMILY. THEN YOU. The next epic SPIDER-MAN and VENOM crossover starts here and continues through April! A new super-powered serial killer is on the loose and they’re coming for Spidey, Venom and everyone in between. But what terrible secret has CARNAGE learned, and what does it have to do with Spider-Man?!”
What’s not to love?
DC K.O. #4

At this point, DC K.O. needs no introduction, being consistently among the best-selling comics each month a new issue has debuted, so we’ll keep this brief. In issue #4, the final four are but to the absolute test.
Description: Three mysterious new Omega-charged fighters have entered the tournament… and this trinity of the Absolute will change the face of the DCU forever! It’s all down to how far the final four are willing to go to win in the penultimate chapter of DC K.O.! Plus: Booster’s true allegiance revealed, Darkseid’s return foretold and a bonkers last page that will bring the battle to the next level!
Absolute Batman #17

Of all the comics from 2025, DC’s Absolute Universe stood out — and that’s more than reflected in sales. Absolute Batman has already gotten off to a stellar 2026 thanks to the Ark M Special, which we loved. Looking to February 2026, Absolute Batman #17 sits right at the top of our most-anticipated list. The upcoming issue introduces Dr. Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, into the fray.
The synopsis for Absolute Batman #17 reads: “Dr. Pamela Isley has been unleashed from the Ark-M facility with an unending hate and burning fire for revenge on Gotham City and those who put her in the belly of the beast. When Batman hunts her down, he must survive a labyrinth of levelled horrors, one more gruesome after the next, as he tries to save the city from a monster it created.”
