We’re just midway through 2025, and publishers have already released a number of chaotic, mind-bending comics! In this list, we shine the spotlight on 5 of the best!
From The Sandman toThe Invisibles, some of the best comics out there are chock full of mind-bending madness. Looking throughout the 2025 archives, we’ve noticed that this year has been a standout for all-new mind-melting series. With that in mind, allow us to walk you through 5 of the best new comics we’ve discovered that very much fall into the ‘mind-bending’ category.
These aren’t in any particular order.
Assorted Crisis Events

Starting off strong with perhaps the best mind-bending comics series of 2025, it’s Assorted Crisis Events by Deniz Camp and Eric Zawadzki. This anthology comic is an action-packed, chaotic, multi-apocalyptic series pushes the boundaries of the comic medium, while also being grounded enough to tell a very human story.
Assorted Crisis Events is utterly bonkers from the outset. It sets the scene in a word where time has become so distorted that everything happens at once — events and people from the distant past and far future collide. Behind every corner there could be cavemen, medieval knights, cyborg soldiers, and other unlikely entities. And naturally, there’s people cashing in on the end of the world. Every page will shock you, surprise you, or simply bewilder you. If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, Black Mirror, or Crisis on Infinite Earths — this’ll be right up your alley.
In fact, issue #1 was the first comic that we cave a perfect 5-star review to in 2025!

Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma

DC Comics brings together the esteemed Eisner Award-winning team of Ram V (New Gods) and Anand RK (Batman: Urban Legends, Blue in Green) for Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma — a comic you’ll want to be reading again and again (literally). Check out the synopsis:
He’s back! Mitch Shelley, the Resurrection Man, has led thousands of lives—and with each unexpected death and resurrection comes a new superpower. But after living a life to its natural conclusion, Mitch Shelly is awoken by a new purpose and power…saving the universe. Follow the Resurrection Man through time as he fights against a monster of his own creation: Gashadokuro—a sadistic WWII internment-camp commander who has inherited a twisted version of Shelley’s powers. The lines of cosmic order will begin to blur as no good deed goes unpunished. And whatever the cause, whatever the consequence, this much is true…he’s dying to save you!
If that isn’t mind-melting enough for you, I don’t know what is.

Fantastic Four (2022) #32

One of the standout comics I’ve read this year is Marvel‘s Fantastic Four #32. Written by Ryan North with art from Cory Smith; Wayne Faucher & Oren Junior, this issue is a completely mind-bending detour for the team.
Check out the synopsis:
“If you found yourself stranded somewhere in the universe with no knowledge of where you were, how quickly could you determine an answer to that question?” It’s a thought experiment Mr. Fantastic had often challenged his children with – but now it’s happening for real – to Valeria Richards! Valeria finds herself lost in a world she was never made – where even the Fantastic Four have been taken from history! But how could a world without the FF have survived the myriad threats it must have faced? What does it mean that the only heroes left are Jean Grey and Namor, the Sub-Mariner? And what does her brother, Franklin, have to do with all of this? See Val make a shocking choice you won’t want to miss…with consequences that will last for the rest of this run!

Absolute Martian Manhunter (DC’s Absolute Universe)

Between this and Assorted Crisis Events, Deniz Camp is giving readers their fix of mind-melting comics more than anyone at the moment. In the case of Absolute Martian Manhunter, we’re talking about an almost ethereal, re-invented story with gorgeous, twisting artwork from Javier Rodriguez.
The comic’s description reads:
Beyond Mars, beyond physical form, beyond human understanding…what’s left is the absolute Martian Manhunter! Brought into the Absolute Universe by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez, Absolute Martian Manhunter reinvents the Justice League’s resident Martian from top to bottom, taking him on a mind-bending, psychedelic journey that transcends dimensions.

Benjamin

Prepare for a comic that breaks time, space and reality. Created by Philip K. Dick Award Winner Ben H. Winters with art from Leomacs, Benjamin is everything readers hoped it would be.
The story centres around renowned science fiction author Benjamin J. Carp, who wakes up in burned-out motel on the fringes of Los Angeles… many years after he died. He remembers his death, so why is he suddenly alive again? It’s like something from his novels has entered reality. His resurrection is a mystery indeed — and it’s merely the catalyst event of a wild, mind-melting adventure.
You can find Benjamin on Amazon here.
Honorable mention: Minor Arcana

This is an honourable mention because the first issue released in September 2024, but it’s continued into 2025, and I want to include it because the more eyes on Minor Arcana, the better.
Comics legend Jeff Lemire (Descender, Black Hammer) has a new ongoing series at BOOM! Studios, titled Minor Arcana, has proven to be a pretty big hit so far. The series is mind-bending through its odd atmosphere and myriad twists and turns. It keeps the reader on edge with each issue. Both written and illustrated by Lemire, with colours from Steve Wands, the series follows Theresa, the daughter of a small-town ‘psychic’, who returns home to care for her ailing mother. However, Shen she becomes more acquainted with magic, she soon finds herself embroiled in a mystery, in a town that desperately needs her help.
