Over two decades since the last big Marvel and DC crossover, the publishers are ushering in a new and exciting era of crossover events.
Both Marvel and DC have had a storied rivalry since the mid 20th-century. However, the two titans of the American comic book industry have crossed paths a couple of times in the past, beginning with crossover event Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man back in 1976. The crossovers would continue periodically throughout the next 25 years, with the most recent being Kurt Busiek’s JLA/Avengers(2003–2004).
Of course, there’s also Amalgam Comics, in which both DC Comics and Marvel Comics merged their characters into new ones. Amalgam had varied success, from Dark Claw (Batman × Wolverine) to Spider-Boy (Spider-Man × Superboy).
The latest crossover event came in the form of BATMAN/DEADPOOL, consisting of two one-shot comics, one for Marvel written by Zeb Wells; and one for DC written by Grant Morrison. The story sees Wade Wilson get hired for a job in Gotham City, but as he operates, he’s under the watchful eye of Batman. That’s not the only crossover either. A number of support stories made up a stellar line-up, including:
- Daredevil & Green Arrow
- Captain America & Wonder Woman
- Jeff & Krypto
- Rocket Racoon & Green Lantern
- Old Man Logan & Batman
There’s even more coming in November 2025 as well, such as: Dr. Strange & Constantine, Wolverine & Nightwing, Hulk & Harley Quinn, and Ms. Marvel & Static.
The Marvel-DC crossovers continue with Spider-Man and Superman.
The titan publishers aren’t just dipping their toes into crossover territory; they’re going all-in. They’re continuing the trend with a Superman and Spider-Man crossover in 2026, aligned to release with the 50th anniversary of the original, classic Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man #1.
All major plot details and creative teams are currently under wraps, but we know that DC will publish Superman/Spider-Man #1 in March 2026, with Marvel publishing Spider-Man/Superman #1 in April.
This showing of intent by the publishers could mean we see a golden era of crossovers. What crossover events would you like to see? Personally, Batman/Iron Man would be pretty incredible and right at the top of my wish list. Give us your thoughts in the comments down below!
