‘Blink and You’ll Miss It’: A Time-Bending Love Story Coming to BOOM! Studios

From the exciting duo of writers Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan (Kill Your Darlings), debut artist Keith Browning, and colorist Brad Simpson, comes new series Blink and You’ll Miss It — debuting this summer!

Ethereal, bizarre and dreamlike are three words to describe Blink and You’ll Miss It, an all-new thriller coming to BOOM! Studios. Both Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan have established themselves as two of the brightest upcoming voices in comics in recent years, perhaps most notably with Kill Your Darlings at Image Comics. So far, they’ve worked with numerous publishers, including DC Comics, IDW Publishing, Marvel Comics. Their new series at BOOM! Studios appears to be another jewel in their crown. In addition, the project marks artist Kieth Browning’s major publisher debut.

The official synopsis for the ongoing series reads:

Melody Nelson and Jesse Harmon fell in love long ago in the tiny town of Perennial Harbor and in the years since Jesse left that place behind it has become a living nightmare.  Jesse can’t sleep knowing that her best friend is still trapped there, but racing back to save her will prove futile. The very fabric of reality has begun to unravel around Melody, sending her further backwards in time with each passing day. Will this journey through the past hold the secret to Melody’s terrible curse, or merely serve as a eulogy before she disappears from existence entirely?

“Making Blink and You’ll Miss It has been an exciting, occasionally elusive, and overall, very special experience,” said co-writer Griffin Sheridan. “Ethan and I are really trusting our instincts as we venture out into stranger places than we’ve been before. Working with artist Keith Browning has been such an eye-opening experience—sometimes literally, these pages are so insane they’ll make your eyes pop out. All that colliding with the immense talents of coloring genius Brad Simpson and master editor Jon Moisan has resulted in something we hope to be truly distinct.”

Blink and You’ll Miss It is bizarre and dreamlike, but it also wears its heart on its sleeve in a way that we find painfully romantic. To write this thing, Grif and I have camped out in the most nerve-wracking territory of our brains, and found something very personal in very unexpected ways,” said co-writer Ethan S. Parker. “Thanks to Keith, Brad, Jon, and every other amazing talent that has contributed their art to this collective, we’ve made another comic book that represents what we want to see on the stands. Slip back in time with us. You might be surprised what you find.”

“Upon reading the outline for this book, I saw immediately that Ethan and Griffin were creating a narrative that truly puts the focus on the characters,” said artist Keith Browning. “Of course this thing has looming mystery, fun action, and kooky visuals (it is a comic book after all)! But the people really are the heart of this story, and I’ve enjoyed the privilege of ‘acting’ through these characters.”
