Chris Pratt, who plays Guardians of the Galaxy leader Star-Lord, has reacted to fans not seeing his chair among the lineup of Avengers: Doomsday cast announcements.

Say what you like about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the fact that it had millions of fans around the world sat staring in immense anticipation at names on chairs… I think it’s doing pretty well. If you’re living under a rock, the whole ‘chair’ fiasco was all for announcing the cast of the upcoming ensemble movie Avengers: Doomsday.

We got confirmation that everyone from the Fantastic Four, to numerous legacy X-Men heroes making their return. You can check out the comprehensive list of cast members here. But despite all the cast members announced, there were more than a few absentees. Notably, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

One of the big absent names was Chris Pratt (Star-Lord). Of course, Star-Lord was massively involved in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. It makes sense that he’ll at least make an appearance. What’s more, none of the Guardians team made it onto the lineup of chairs.

Speaking to Collider, Pratt calmed everything down by confirming that he’s not done with the role. He didn’t inherently confirm nor deny that he’s in Doomsday. “I can’t say, for fans of mine, where they’ll see Star-Lord again,” he said, “but I can tell them we made a promise at the end of [Guardians of the Galaxy] Vol. 3 that the legendary Star-Lord will return, and he will return.”

His reaction to being absent from the lineup of chairs appears to be rather telling. “I don’t know! I think it was, like, far off… They must have cut away from it,” he joked. “I don’t know what happened. I don’t know. It was there. I’m sure it was there.”

Whether Chris Pratt reprises his role as Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday remains to be seen. I should think that the cast we have confirmed so far is a long way from the final count. There’s bound to be a few surprises along the way!
