Colin Farrell has revealed that he is in The Batman: Part II, although his character The Penguin doesn’t have many scenes.
It’s now been over three years since Matt Reeves’ The Batman debuted. There hasn’t been a sequel yet, although The Batman: Part II is very much in the works. As for whether Colin Farrell’s fan-favorite Penguin will return, the actor has revealed that he’s reading the scripts.
Of course, after his standout performance in The Batman, Farrell’s Penguin returned for his own solo series in 2024. HBO Max’s The Penguin was an enormous success — it currently stands at a staggering 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. It hasn’t been renewed for another season yet, but it could be likely in the future. Penguin’s next appearance will no doubt come in The Batman: Part II.
However, according to Farrell, his role in the forthcoming sequel won’t be as significant as the first, where he was one of the main antagonists alongside The Riddler. “I don’t have many scenes, I don’t believe, but I’ll be there for whatever. Matt Reeves is so brilliant. I don’t know what the story is yet,” Farrell told The Wrap.
The Penguin showrunner Lauren LaFranc weighs in the possibility of a second season.
Additionally, showrunner Lauren LaFranc also offered a recent update on a potential The Penguin season 2. “I don’t know. There’s no current status update,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think Matt just turned in his script (for The Batman Part II), so I’m excited to read that soon and see what comes of that – if there is anything there that merits a second season [of The Penguin] or not.”
“I think we’ve said this before, but I truly mean it: We have to feel confident we can top ourselves, and that’s something that’s really important to Colin Farrell and me, especially. Otherwise, we don’t want to do something again if it’s not going to be excellent. We were always meant to be a limited series. So, pivoting to a second season is just different – it’s not something we ever really talked about.”
The Penguin returns in The Batman: Part II, which is expected to air in 2027. After that, The Penguin season 2 is always a possibility. Would you like to see it? Tell us in the comments down below!
