The time has come again for that city of San Diego to be overcome in its annual purge of available hotels at reasonable rates. San Diego Comic-Con, Comic-Con International… Whatever you want to call it, it is upon us. Remember that Aquaman comic where half the city gets broken off and drowned in the ocean? That’s what the city government does to clean up the following Monday.
Yours truly will be attending this year. It’s my first time ever even though I’ve spent years of my life living and going to school in San Diego, and I’ll be going as a member of the press. In preparation for the event, I spent far too much money on some clothes that you are definitely going to see me wearing if you spot me at the convention center.

Publisher Emeritus Jason Sacks, Interviews Editor Joseph Kyle Schmidt, Small Press Editor Daniel Elkin, and a whole lot more of us will be attending the show. We’ll be there conducting interviews, attending panels, and probably spending more money in Artists’ Alley than we will on foods and drinks. I don’t know about anyone else but, if you spot me on the floor and I’m not sprinting past in my high school track uniform then say “hi.”
On Thursday from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, you can see me on The New Comics Journalism: Representation for All panel with Heidi MacDonald (The Beat), Megan Purdy (Women Write About Comics), and other very intelligent, passionate people. It was an absolute honor to be asked to be on this panel by Heidi and you can find out more about it here.
We’ll also be active on Twitter (@comicsbulletin) and hopefully Snapchat (@comics-bulletin) if I can figure out how to work that on my old phone. Hopefully we’ll have stuff to show you as things kick off this evening with Preview Night. After the show, we look forward to sharing interviews and reviews of material obtained at the convention in the weeks to come.
