David Harbour recently praised Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo for their “incredible” work on the upcoming movie.

After their immensely popular, box office smash-hit Avengers: Endgame, filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo have had mixed success with other projects. For instance, Netflix’s The Electric State was a massive flop, and The Gray Man was average. The pressure is on for Avengers: Doomsday, the first Avengers picture since Endgame wrapped up a decade-long story arc in 2019.

The MCU is pulling out all the stops for Doomsday. Of course, dozens of fan-favorite heroes are confirmed to return, including legacy X-Men stars and the all-new Fantastic Four. Franchise legend Robert Downey Jr. is also making his return… as Doctor Doom.

One popular hero who’s poised to play a big role is David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov, aka The Red Guardian. He made his MCU debut in Black Widow, returning earlier this year for Thunderbolts*. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Harbour rhapsodised about the skill and craftsmanship of Joe and Anthony Russo’s work on Doomsday.

“”I was not even convinced when we started, and this movie’s gonna be really good. [The Russo Brothers] have a special sauce … There’s something about the layers in which they put the comedy, drama, surprises, scale, and the epicness … all that stuff. It’s incredible,” he said.

“I’ve never been on a set like this in my life. I’ve never seen anything like this. You saw those chairs. So it’s like, every one of those guys and girls has a trailer … It’s just enormous”

This is a big year for David Harbour, who will see the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things air in the coming months.

Doomsday will no doubt be the biggest and greatest MCU event since Endgame. The movie opens on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars a year later on December 17, 2027. Are you excited? Tell us in the comments down below!
