‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ Set Designer Dawn Brown Debuts Kids’ Comic ‘Gracie’s Ghost’ In 2025

Dawn Brown, the set designer behind Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, will debut her kids’ graphic novel Gracie’s Ghost in September!

Image Comics has announced Gracie’s Ghost is coming this September. The comic is written and illustrated by award-winning set designer and concept artist Dawn Brown — whose credits include Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and The Hunger Games.

Brown has already seen plenty of success at Image Comics. The Eisner-nominated author previously wrote Little Red Hot. She also wrote Ravenous; a comic inspired by the works of seminal horror author Edgar Allan Poe. From her film and TV work, to her comics, Brown has proven herself a masterful world builder. You can learn more about her career and credits on her official website.

As for Gracie’s Ghost, the graphic novel is targeted towards tweens and middle-schoolers. It offers a number of short, self-contained stories. The novel is described as a fantastical adventure, perfect for young readers who sometimes feel like an outsider in the world, and seek the guidance and counsel of an imaginary friend.

Gracie’s Ghost weaves the heartwarming tale of an eccentric kid navigating the perilous landscape of school and family life—with the help of her guardian ghost.

Gracie’s Ghost is sort of a fictionalized version of events that really happened to me, and I wrote this book for kids who haven’t always had the easy road,” Brown said in a statement. “Whatever their challenge is, they are not alone.”
