DC has announced a forthcoming box set of six titles from its popular Compact Comics line, and it’s a total bargain!
For readers new to DC Comics, the publisher’s compact comics line has been a game-changer, providing cheaper and complete storylines for all to enjoy. Getting into comics can be daunting, quite simply due to the sheer gluttony of different runs, prequels, sequels, and so on. That’s where the publisher’s line of compact comics comes into its own. These small, but incredibly dense, editions take entire story arcs and put them together in one book. It’s a comprehensive way of reading without the need to but separate TPBs or single issues.
Some of the most popular DC Compact Comics include Scott Snyder’s Batman: Court of Owlssaga and even Alan Moore’s seminal works Watchmen and V for Vendetta. These editions notably lack the beauty of glossy paper. Plus given their smaller size, text can often appear tiny. But these drawbacks are largely negligible compared to the benefits these editions offer. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to read comics.
In a comprehensive box set coming in November 2026, DC brings six of its most popular Compact Comics books into one box set. It encompasses almost 2000 pages of comics, all for the very reasonable price of $49.99. Given that each title individually retails for $9.99, this box set represents a bulk discount of over $10. The titles included in this mammoth edition are:
- All-Star Superman
- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
- Batman: The Long Halloween
- DC: The New Frontier
- Kingdom Come
- Watchmen
The box set launches on Nov 3, 2026. It’s a bit early in the year to be talking about the holiday season, but when the time comes, this is a steal.
