‘Fatal Attraction’ Meets ‘Terminator’ in Erotic Thriller ‘Artificial’ — Launching in September

An erotic thriller, and a twisted love story in the modern world of Artificial Intelligence. That’s exactly what Maria Llovet writes about in her new series Artificial, launching this September.

2025 has been a pretty impressive year for Image Comics so far. Some of our standout works include Assorted Crisis Events, Lost Fantasy, and Bug Wars. And there’s plenty more on the way. In September, the publisher launches an all-new, 8-issue series, Artificial, from acclaimed creator Maria Llovet (Crave, Violent Flowers, All The Things We Didn’t Do Last Night). The comic is described as Fatal Attraction meets Terminator.

Check out the official synopsis:

Clara, a fashion stylist disillusioned with love, turns to a futuristic dating service that offers lifelike android partners. But when her dream lover glitches into a possessive stalker, she finds herself trapped in a game of desire, control, and survival.

Artificial is part sci-fi thriller, part toxic romance. It’s a twisted love story for the age of AI—and I can’t wait for readers to lose themselves in it,” Llovet said in a statement.

AI has been a plot device in innumerable projects over the years, no matter the medium: film, television, novels, comic books. From 2001: A Space Odyssey, to Terminator, to Marvel, and beyond. With the dawn of a new age of AI, specifically Generative AI, and the dangers and moral implications of it — we can expect a whole lot more projects exploring the subject in the years to come.
