Eisner-winning creators Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Becky Cloonan (Somna) explore nuclear war and social collapse in their upcoming graphic novel The War.

As originally collected from the pages of popular BOOM! Studios horror anthology series Hello Darkness comes 3-issue series The War, uniting Eisner-winning team Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Becky Cloonan (Somna). Gritty and dark, The War explores the very real the modern fear of nuclear war and societal collapse.

The official synopsis for the project reads: In New York City, a group of friends watch their fears become reality as they face the immediate threat of nuclear war. Everyone has a different plan for survival as the end of the world…who will live? Who will die?

“As the world around us slides further into ruin, what better time to revisit the cheery subject of atomic obliteration?” Ennis said in a statement. “And who better to accompany me on this joyous journey than the wonderfully talented Becky Cloonan?”

If anyone has the prowess to offer a dark story about nuclear war, it’s Ennis. From The Boys to Crossed, he’s a writer who knows all too well about how to cover the downfall of society and apocalyptic events.
