Doesn’t really mean the comics weren’t still great propaganda tools at the time, or that they weren’t being read by kids too young to go to war at home, in a spirit of solidarity with the troops sent far and away to get Nazis. The books tied themselves to military themes and imagery for a reason, even it wasn’t in direct service to soldiers.
Oh, absolutely, Shawn! I’m just attempting to corect the false tale that comic BOOKS were major reading material for the young men overseas, themselves! I don’t know why, or by whom, this falze fact was initiated. Best, Jim
