DC’s Absolute Universe is the most popular comic book continuity in the world right now. If you’re yet to get started, here’s our comprehensive guide and reading order.
DC’s Absolute Universe, or the All-in initiative, officially launched in October 2024. And the rest, as they say, is history. The launch was a gigantic success from the outset. Throughout 2025, it dominated month-by-month sales. And more recently DC has announced an entire new reprint for every issue, which is a pretty monumental milestone. Absolute Batman #1 alone has now reached its unprecedented 11th reprint.
Every title so far has been top tier, ranging from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s Absolute Batman, to Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez’s Absolute Martian Manhunter, and so on. These creative, unique, and reimagined takes have rejuvenated these characters. They’re similar enough to feel authentic, but different enough to feel novel and fresh. They have everyone flooding into comic stores for the latest issues.
“I hope it reminds people that these characters are meant to be renewed,” Scott Snyder said in a 2025 AMA. “They’re meant to be burned down and put together. Batman weaponizes his trauma to make the world better, that’s how he wins.”
The Absolute Universe is unmissable comic book history in the making. If you’re new, where do you get started?
Where should you start with the Absolute Universe?
First and foremost, it’s worth noting that you can begin with any title that suits your fancy. Absolute Batman is a solid title to jump in with, but so are Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman. You’ll get enough context by reading these stories alone, and you won’t be left in the dark.
However, if you want absolute context, it’s best to begin with DC All-In Special #1, an over-sized one-shot that provides key details on how the Absolute Universe was created, including how Darkseid’s essence set the Absolute stories — and their tonal shift — into action. It’s an optional read, but certainly foundational.
The main Absolutes line kicked off with 3 ‘core’ titles that are still ongoing. Absolute Batman began on October 9, 2024; Absolute Wonder Woman followed on October 23, 2024; and then Absolute Superman on November 6, 2024.
Other titles joined the line in 2025. One of the most popular being Absolute Martian Manhunter, which started off as a limited series but has since been expanded. So far, no ongoing titles have ended; they’re all still going strong.
