New York Times bestselling writer Charles Soule and artist Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque will see a remastered edition of their cult classic sci-fi series Letter 44 hit shelves this July!
After first being released over a decade ago, Letter 44 has garnered a legion of fans. The series is chock full of space adventures and also political intrigue back on Earth. Plus, of course, mankind’s first contact with alien species. Now, Image Comics has announced an all-new remastered edition, featuring a glorious new cover and reworked interior pages.
The official synopsis reads: Letter 44 introduces readers to the newly-elected president Stephen Blades, who, on his first day in office, reads the letter left for him in the Oval Office desk by the outgoing president. It alerts him to a harrowing secret kept hidden from the world. Seven years ago, NASA discovered an alien presence in the asteroid belt and sent a stealth mission crewed by nine astronauts to make contact. The aliens’ intentions are unclear, but ominous. President Blades has just become the most powerful man on the planet… at the worst possible time.
“Letter 44 was my first long-form series, and despite it being originally published a decade ago, I think its topics and themes (aliens, heroism in times of crisis, and also aliens) are as timely as ever,” Soule said in a statement. “Certainly, the beautiful artwork by Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque is as powerful as the day he first put pencil to paper. Publishing the story in a single volume has been something I’ve wanted to do for years, and I’m grateful to Image Comics for making it happen. Letter 44 is about to find an entirely new audience, and I hope they’re ready for the ride.”
The Letter 44 Compendium paperback hits shelves on July 1st. Needless to say, this is the perfect edition for fans of the series. You can pre-order the compendium on Amazon here.
