Image Comics has another western project coming our way in the from of Everything Dead & Dying, from writer Tate Brombal and That Texas Blood artist Jacob Phillips!
In recent years, Image Comics has been the home to some of the greatest western-themed comics out there. From East of West to Pulp and, of course, That Texas Blood — their catalog is pretty immense. And the winning streak will no doubt continue with upcoming work Everything Dead & Dying from acclaimed artist Jacob Phillips and House of Slaughter‘s Tate Brombal.
Described as The Last of Us meets Yellowstone, the upcoming 5-issue series tells a zombie apocalypse story set within the already brutal and inherently dangerous western landscape. The project marks Brombal’s debut at Image and is Phillips’ first new series since his breakout works with Chris Condon—That Texas Blood and its prequel/tie-in story The Enfield Gang Massacre. Check out the official synopsis:
Everything Dead & Dying follows Jack Chandler, the sole survivor of the zombie apocalypse hunkered down in his rural farming community. But rather than eliminate them, Jack has chosen to continue living alongside the undead—including the husband and adopted daughter he fought so hard to have. But when his town is discovered by outsiders, Jack suddenly becomes the one thing standing in the way of those who hope to kill his family for good.
“A BITING tale full of BRAINS and GUTS. We’ve poured BLOOD, sweat and tears into this comic that will leave you HUNGRY for more,” Phillips teased. “But seriously. It’s been an absolute joy to build and inhabit this world of the undead with Tate, Pip and Aditya. We cannot wait for you to experience this story in all its GORY.”
Brombal added: “Everything Dead & Dying has been in my brain marinating and rotting since the summer of 2020, now five years later it is finally emerging in all of its undead glory. I had never read a zombie story like this, so I pushed up my sleeves and decided to write it myself. I’m so excited to be working with my good friend, Jacob Phillips, who has never been better, and I’m incredibly proud that this story will be published by Image Comics—the publisher that revitalized zombie stories for an entire generation. This comic is an ode to everything that came before—and everything that refuses to die.”
