Jack Katz is creating a new magnum opus; graphic novel entitled Beyond the Beyond, which he is attempting to fund via an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign. According to reports, this is a grassroots support endeavor that was initiated by a dedicated team of a dozen people, who are fans of Katz’s legendary body of work. This team considers Jack to be a “living art treasure” of the United States, a Silver Age Artist who — at age 87 — merits support at this time in his long and distinguished career. Katz has paved the way for other artists to produce independent works and graphic novels. Your support as a patron will enable Jack to produce the first part of his new 800-page graphic novel, Beyond the Beyond, and to have the means to create this project during the time of transition while he is waiting for royalties to be received from his first thousand-page graphic novel, The First Kingdom – which took him 15 years with over 1,070 fully illustrated pages plus covers, and now published in its entirety
The entire outline for his new graphic novel, Beyond the Beyond, has already be written and Katz Has already started to draw it, and it is slated to be 800 fully illustrated pages. At 87, Katz doesn’t really have any savings to fall back on, and is relying on the royalties from First Kingdom. Still, it will take some time and right now, he needs fans’ help to be able to do the work for Beyond the Beyond. He needs to dedicate himself to sitting behind his drawing board 14+ hours on most days. There are necessities such as space rental, supplies such as Bristol board and ink pens, and other logistics for getting this project ready to go to print.
The campaign target goal would keep him going for at least three months. Should the blessing of exceeding his funding goal occur, any extra funds will be used to keep the project going beyond this initial three months of support. His Beyond The Beyond Team will keep supporters informed of his progress along the way through this site. All proceeds will be used to enable Katz to work on this beginning phase of Beyond the Beyond, and also, his budget includes fees and rewards expenses related to this outreach endeavor.
This project will be funded on Wednesday, February 21, 2015.
