Kirby Howell-Baptiste recently finished her debut in a comic book project, starring as Death in Netflix’s The Sandman. And now, the British actress is being eyed for a Marvel role. There’s rumours linking her to playing X-Men hero Storm.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well underway in introducing X-Men heroes. There’ve been teasers in projects across the franchise, not least Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine. Looking ahead to Avengers: Doomsday, it will be the most X-Men heavy MCU movie to date, featuring Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Cyclops (James Marsden), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Gambit (Channing Tatum).
Over the last few years, there’s been so much talk about who will play Storm. There are certainly rumours out there that Halle Berry could return as Storm, most notably from insider DanielRPK. Berry has previously played it coy when asked about appearing in the upcoming ensemble movie. Back in 2024, when ComicBookMovie asked her about reprising the role, she replied: “You never know. We’ll find out!”

The latest actor linked with portraying Storm is none other than Kirby Howell-Baptiste. Comic book fans will best know her from her portrayal of Death in Netflix’s The Sandman, which concluded in July 2025. The rumour began from MainMiddleMan on X, who confirmed that her approach was “intended for the role of Storm.”
Moreover, Howell-Baptiste has recently weighed in on the rumour. In an interview with Pillot Productions while promoting her new film We Strangers, the actress was told about the rumour, to which she responded “ Send that article,” before adding, “”I’d love to read it. How intriguing?”
While it’s far from confirmation, it’s not ardent denial. If she has been cast, those Disney NDA’s will be strict, so this is probably the best we can hope for. Would you like to see Kirby Howell-Baptiste in the MCU? Tell us in the comments down below!
