Eisner-winning author Tom King’s graphic novel Love Everlasting has been tapped by Sony Pictures Entertainment for a movie adaptation!
Every now and then, we pick up a comic and wonder, “How good would this be on the big screen?” We’ve thought this about Monty Nero’s Death Sentence, Jonathan Hickman’s East of West, and so on. In fact, we’ve even written an entire article about comics that would make for amazing adaptations. And now, there’s a comic called Love Everlasting that’s actually getting the big screen treatment — and we’re so very excited about it!
Published by Image Comics, Love Everlasting is described as a story that’s part Groundhog Day, part Quantum Leap. The comic blends romance with horror with fantastical elements. Written by Eisner-Winning author Tom King (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Heroes in Crisis) and drawn by Elsa Charretier (The Unstoppable Wasp), Love Everlasting tells the story of Joan Peterson, after she discovers that she’s trapped in an endless, repeating loop of romance. Every time she falls in love, she’s thrust away and placed into another love story.
As of April 2025, Love Everlasting has released 15 issues. The series is still ongoing, with plans for a run of at least 30 issues.
It’s official: A Love Everlasting movie is coming.
Love Everlasting is getting a movie adaptation from Sony Pictures Entertainment. This is not to be confused with the 2016 movie Love Everlasting, which is completely unrelated.
The project has Oscar-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson (Room) on board to helm, and Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Stardust) penning the script. Goldman has an esteemed history of working on comic book movies, having previously worked on Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class. In addition, Emma Watts and Element’s Ed Guiney are down as producers.
What’s more, King’s work has a track record of being hugely successful as a platform for movie and television projects. For instance, his works have influenced everything from Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, to the DCU’s upcoming Supergirl movie.
There’s a lot of talent behind this movie! With the amount of talent involved, before even any official casting announcements have been made, it’s easy to foresee Love Everlasting becoming one of the most exciting upcoming comic book adaptations!
