Milly Alcock is now confirmed to debut as Supergirl in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming Superman movie, premiering later this year!
With Superman, James Gunn and Peter Safran are launching their very own DC Universe. The movie will kick off the all-new continuity, aiming to rival the mammoth Marvel Cinematic Universe. Technically, DC Studios started with Creature Commandos, an expertly crafted animated series serving as a precursor to the Suicide Squad.
Superman sees David Corenswet debut as the Man of Steel, as well as Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Gunn’s Superman definitely embraces his signature style. It looks fun, goofy, and epic. Check out the trailer:
Milly Alcock will make her DC Studios debut in Superman!
And now, thanks to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, we have official confirmation that Milly Alcock will debut as Superman’s cousin, Supergirl, in the Superman movie. We could’ve guessed that she’d make some sort of appearance, but it’s nice to have confirmation. However, her screen time in the film is still under wraps; it could only be a cameo appearance.
Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, will make a big impression in the DC Studios franchise. She will make her solo debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2026), the second movie in the franchise.
The Supergirl movie began filming in the United Kingdom in January 2025, helmed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) and written by Ana Nogueira.
Milly Alcock is best-known for her work on HBO’s House of the Dragon, where she played the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Playing Supergirl will be her biggest role yet. We can’t wait to see her continue to grow and develop in the DC Studios franchise. She’s got an exciting career ahead of her!
