Chris Condon and Jeffrey Alan Love’s new post apocalyptic foray News From the Fallout is a certified hit at Image. The comic’s debut is being rushed back to print following increased demand.
Image Comics has yet another hit, folks. A gloomy, atmospheric series, News From the Fallout is reminiscent of George A. Romero’s The Crazies, but very much exists in a realm of its own. The comic is created by the esteemed team of writer Chris Condon (That Texas Blood, Enfield Gang Massacre, Ultimate Wolverine) and artist Jeffrey Alan Love (The Last Battle at the End of the World, The Thousand Demon Tree).
In a recent report, Image revealed that issue #1 has been a standout success, selling out completely at the distributor level.
News from the Fallout is set in 1962 Nevada after a nuclear bomb test goes awry unleashing a contaminate into the atmosphere that turns people rotten. Otis Fallows, a private in the U.S. Army who is present for the test and is the only known survivor, flees the secret army base in search of a safe haven—but does such a place exist? You can find our review of issue #1 here.
“Working with Chris on News From The Fallouth as been amazing, and having it published by Image is a dream come true,” said Love. “I don’t know if there are words to describe the first issue selling out and the wonderful reception it has received other than thank you. Thank you to all the readers, retailers, comic shops, reviewers, and the comic pros who helped spread the word. I can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for the rest of the series!”
Condon added: “I am so excited to know that News From The Fallout is connecting with readers as Jeffrey Alan Love and I had hoped it would. There’s never a guarantee in this industry that something you’re cooking up will find its target, but if you believe in the material—as we did here—you throw as hard and as fast as you can and wait to see where it hits. Well, it looks like we’ve hit our target, and we’re so excited that the work that Jeff, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, Michael Tivey, and myself have done has resulted in a second printing with a fantastic sister cover to Jeff’s evocative first issue cover. Thank you to everyone who picked up an issue and listened to the NEWS.”
The reprint launches in comic book stores on Wednesday, July 30, alongside the release of issue #2.
