No, the Avengers-Star Wars Crossover Comic is NOT Happening

In the last couple of days, a rumour has been circulating about a potential Marvel and Star Wars crossover comic coming later this year. However, rumours of this project have been greatly exaggerated.

Marvel Comics has been publishing Star Wars stories for decades at this point, and the collaboration continues to bear excellent stories. Fans needn’t look further than the next big project, which comes in the form of The Shadow of Maul, coming in March 2026. As for what the future holds for the galaxy far, far away, recent rumours suggested that a Marvel crossover could be in the pipeline.

Multiple big outlets reported on the news; we were guilty of mentioning it as a rumour, too. Before long, the news spread far and wide, catching the attention of geeks across the internet.

The rumour noted that long-time comic scribe Mark Millar (Civil War, Kick-Ass) was attached to the project. However, all of this gossip spiralled out of control. Turns out, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the crossover event is not happening. “And in another example of the Internet being stupid, a rumour spread about a Star Wars/Marvel/Avengers cross over comic book to be written by love him or hate him author Mark Millar,” the report reads. “It was like Alderaan exploded all over again. In any case, we’re hearing it’s not true, so have some blue milk and cookies.”

Such a crossover would have been historically significant for the comics medium. There has never been an official crossover between the two IPs. Projects have long been discussed, and there’s plenty of fan-fiction around, but nothing official.

Crossovers have become significantly more prominent in the last year. Of course, both Marvel and DC endured massive success with their lineup of crossover one-shots. The core title, Batman / Deadpool #1, was the best-selling single issue comic of 2025. Additionally, Planet of the Apes Versus Fantastic Four is another crossover to garner much acclaim — so much that Rob Liefield threw gas on the fire, quoting, “Just wait until Star Wars/Avengers next year… yeesh.”

While the Mark Millar crossover may not become reality, it has got us thinking. Which characters would you like a Marvel-Star Wars crossover to follow? And who would you choose to write it? Tell us in the comments down below!
