The fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has wrapped filming, and star Norman Reedus has posted an emotional tribute to fans.
Playing a character for way over a decade is a blessing for any actor and a privilege that not many get to experience. As The Walking Dead Universe hits 15 years on our screens, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) has been a key figure in the franchise from the very beginning. Appearing in every season until the show’s conclusion in 2022, it’s been one hell of a journey. He continued to play Daryl Dixon into his own solo series, which saw him travel to France, England, and Spain. The third season of Daryl Dixon aired earlier this year (and we loved it), with the fourth and final season recently wrapping filming.
Daryl Dixon season 4 sees our titular hero and Carol remain in Spain after their boat home was destroyed in the season 3 finale. It’s too early to tell what’s in store for the final season, but it’ll undoubtedly be an emotional one. After 15 years on the series, Reedus will let go of Daryl Dixon for the first time, without any other confirmed projects for the character in the pipeline. Of course, we all know that he’s likely to reprise the role sometime in the future, but nothing beyond Daryl Dixon S4 has been announced. If something does happen, it’s bound to be at least a couple of years away.
As filming wrapped, Reedus shared a thoughtful sentiment to his legion of fans on Twitter/X. “Last filming day today for daryl dixon,” he wrote. “It’s been such a joy for me to play this guy with all of u for this long. I feel really blessed. Truly. Thank you all really from my heart.”
Additionally, in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reedus explained that Daryl Dixon S4 wraps up his character’s saga in the “perfect” way, but went on to admit that it may not be the ultimate conclusion: “There’s always more story you can tell,” he said.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 will premiere in 2026. After that, the franchise will only have one active show left in the form of Dead City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie).
