Diamond-certified musician Post Malone will soon debut his first graphic novel, Big Rig, described as Evil Dead meets Mad Max: Fury Road!
Post Malone, Vault Comics, and Platinum Dunes have announced a collaboration to bring a new comic, Big Rig, to readers. Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, is the musician behind Sunflower (from the soundtrack of Into the Spider-Verse), is trying his hand at comics.
Big Rig is based on an idea by Post Malone. The comic is written by himself and Adrian Wassel, with illustrations by Nathan Gooden (Barbaric). The comic is set in Europe during the Dark Ages, where an armored 18-wheeler, seemingly sent from the heavens, stands as the sole defence against the horde of demons infesting the continent. It’s a horror, action-packed thriller, and I’m here for it!
“This is going to kick ass. It’s amazing working with Vault and Michael Bay,” Post Malone said in a statement. “Turning this idea into what we have is unbelievable. The team has been crushing it and I can’t believe we get to be a part of Free Comic Book Day. Enjoy Chapter 1. There’s so much more to come.”
Moreover, artist Nathan Gooden explained that Malone actively participates in the creative process. “The thing with many musicians is that they are often good writers overall, whether they are writing prose or music,” explained Wassel. “His ideas were a ton of fun. We instantly saw the potential to make something incredible.”

Big Rig may get a film adaptation.
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller, who run the production banner Platinum Dunes, are heavily involved in the project. Development of a future adaptation is very much on the table. “I love the art, attitude and characters,” Bay said. “Also I am excited to work with Post Malone and have our creative worlds collide.”
Big Rig #1 is available on May 3 for Free Comic Book Day. Vault Comics will release the graphic novel later in 2025.
