If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a fantasy epic, with an action packed story, look no further than ‘The Sword of the Titans’ by Kashidashiki!
I’ll start this by being totally honest. Before picking up The Sword of the Titans, I hadn’t really dived into manga all that much. Some of my favourites include beloved classic Attack on Titan, as well as Alice in Borderland. When I read the synopsis of Sword of the Titans, I was pretty blown away — so much that I simply had to get my hands on it. But was it worth my time? Behold my spoiler-free review!
Published by Titan Comics, The Sword of the Titans takes place in a time when gods and humans live and fight together. Our protagonist is Tsuchimaru, a young boy, helpless in the chaos that ensues between deities and beasts. This is until a mysterious artisan gifts the boy in incredibly powerful sword — enabling him to fight the fierce denizens of the world himself.

This manga is pure escapism from the first page until the last. It’s a sweeping epic, offering everything you want from a fantasy story: monsters, deities, grand battles, and an epic quest. The world building is pretty stellar, too. It borrows elements from across myth and legend, blending them together in a fascinating, ethereal world, where gods and humans coexist, otherworldly creatures dwell, and covens live on flying wooden ships. And it’s realised through myriad breathtaking illustrations. From the incredible scale, to epic landscapes, to the raw emotions from the characters — I loved everything about it.
Author Kashidashiki keeps the story moving at a breakneck pace, constantly keeping me on the edge of my seat, excited to turn the next page. There’s never a dull moment. However, it was fast-paced almost to a fault. I occasionally found myself wanting the story to slow down and take a moment to breathe. Between all the epic moments, a little more exposition wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Even so, Sword of the Titans Vol. 1 is a stellar start to the series, and I can’t wait to see how the story continues to grow and develop. This is absolutely one to have on your radar.
The Sword of the Titans is now available. You can pre-order Volume 1 on Amazon here.
