Image Comics has announced a new, remastered edition of Rob Liefeld’s iconic comics series Youngblood, coming this April.
Rob Liefeld’s pioneering comic Youngblood was one of the first big hits for Image Comics, paving the way for indie comics throughout the ’90s and beyond. The original series sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Since then, Image Comics has gone on to become one of the major publishers in the comics industry, publishing beloved works such as Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead and Invincible.
For those new to the comic, allow us to introduce you to it. The series follows a government superhero team. They operate in a world where superheroes are as renowned as athletes and film stars. The series brilliantly blended traditional superhero storytelling with a more commercial view on how heroes would be perceived in the media. Popular characters to come out of the series include Shaft, Badrock, and Diehard.
Youngblood has seen contributions from some of the biggest names in comics over the years. All of Alan Moore, Robert Kirkman and Mark Millar have told stories set in the Youngblood universe.
Youngblood Deluxe is bigger and better than the original!
The Youngblood Deluxe edition elevates everything great about the original run. This includes the comic being re-scripted, re-colored, re-lettered, and remastered. Check out the cover art:

“This is the ultimate way to experience Youngblood,” Liefeld said in a statement. “These characters mean so much to me and to revisit them like this is the absolute best way to read the comic that literally started the revolution and transformed the industry!”
Back when we learned that Liefeld would return to Youngblood in 2024, he rhapsodised about the opportunity to bring it back. “It’s so great that I can run into the comfort of characters that I created, that launched a movement,” he said. “They carry such history. I love Youngblood so much. These characters are my absolute passion.”
Youngblood Deluxe #1 arrives in comic book stores and digital release on April 16. Will you be reading?
