It’s déjà vu, folks! According to a recent report, Tobey Maguire will be returning as his beloved Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday.
If you thought the Avengers: Doomsday cast wasn’t stacked enough, think again. Because — and no doubt you’ll be shocked to hear this — Tobey Maguire is reportedly stepping back into the Spidey-suit for the upcoming Avengers movie.
Of course, Tobey Maguire made his debut as the web-slinger in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002), reprising his role for two sequels. He would later make his triumphant return in the MCU’s ;Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021), joined by fellow cast-mates Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield. ‘No Way Home’ very much encapsulated the franchise’s multiverse story arc, which allowed Maguire to return to the role. His hasn’t appeared in any MCU projects since, but that may be about to change.
The rumour that Maguire will return for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ comes from industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has an exceptional track record of accurate leaks in the past.
It’s worth noting that this rumour is still firmly in the realm of speculation. Maguire himself has not yet commented on it, nor has Marvel Studios itself confirmed or denied anything. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
The upcoming Avengers movie has a ridiculously stacked cast, including characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men (including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Ian McKellen’s Magneto). The idea of Maguire returning as Spider-Man isn’t an unrealistic prediction by any stretch. In fact, fans are already wondering whether Marvel Studios is preparing for the return of Andrew Garfield’s version of the character.
The MCU’s main Spider-Man, Tom Holland, will return in July 2026 for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. This will mark his fourth solo movie as the web-slinger.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will release in theaters on December 18, 2026. Are you excited? Give us all your thoughts in the comments down below!
