The Reimagined ‘Witchblade’ Series Receives Ongoing Status!

Top Cow has officially announced that the reimagined Witchblade comic has officially achieved ongoing status!

Witchblade #7 is out now, but the iconic franchise won’t end here. Top Cow Productions has announced that the series will continue, ushering in a new era for the beloved series. The new issue releases alongside the Witchblade Vol. 1 trade paperback — a must-have collection setting the stage for the stories to come. You can order volume 1 here.

The Witchblade Vol. 1 TPB not only serves as a refresher to fans. It also features three new pages, helping to usher in the all-new story arc.

Witchblade has long been a beloved franchise. The series originally debuted back in 1995. Created by by Marc Silvestri, David Wohl, Brian Haberlin, and Michael Turner, the series follows New York City detective Sara Pezzini, who’s life is transformed when she wields the mystical Witchblade; an artefact with immeasurable powers. The series has seen success across media, including a TV series in 2001 and an anime show in 2006.

Witchblade #7 tells an entirely new arc. The synopsis reads: “As the mystical gauntlet’s chosen bearer, Sara Pezzini must embrace the Witchblade’s immense power to confront billionaire Kenneth Irons and his malevolent intentions. Her journey collides with the arrival of Jackie Estacado—the latest bearer of The Darkness. Their confrontation will reshape the Top Cow Universe, leaving fans breathless.”

Marc Silvestri hypes the return of the reimagined Witchblade.

Ahead of the news of the series’ continuation Top Cow founder and Witchblade creator Marc Silvestri shared his excitement.

“It’s really blown us away,” he said. “Sara Pezzini’s story is at the heart of everything we’re doing with this reimagined Top Cow Universe. By dropping the trade paperback alongside the first issue of the new arc, we’re making sure fans can dive straight into the next chapter without missing a beat.
